Egypt, EU discuss agricultural, employment cooperation

CAIRO - 11 April 2022: Egypt's Ambassador in Brussels Badr Abdel Aati held a meeting Monday with the director of the office of the EU Commissioner for Agriculture.

The meeting tackled means of promoting cooperation between Egypt and the EU in the field of agriculture and improving capabilities to deal with food crises, in addition to using technology to develop agricultural systems, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release on its Facebook page.
The talks also tackled ways of overcoming the negative impact of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict on the global and Egyptian economy, including allocating 100 million euros by the EU to support Egypt in the field of food security.
Abdel Aati reviewed an ambitious plan adopted by Egypt to develop its agricultural sector and address the issues of food and water security.
The ambassador also held a meeting with the director of the office of the EU Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion.
The meeting tackled means of boosting cooperation between Egypt and the EU in the fields of capacity-building and technical and vocational education to prepare skilled and trained workers.
Abdel Aati highlighted Egypt's efforts to promote social rights, improve the living standards of citizens and provide basic services for them.
He also reviewed several initiatives launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to improve the living conditions Egypt, including the Takaful and Karama program.
