The producer price index for the “Manufacturing industries excluding oil refining” sector fell by 0.1% in August compared to the previous month, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).

This drop is the result of the 4% price drop in “Metallurgy”, the 1.4% price increase in the “Clothing industry” and 0.2% in “Food industries”, explains the HCP in its information note relating to the Industrial, Energy and Mining Producer Price Index (IPPIEM).

The producer price index for the “Extractive Industries” sector saw a decrease of 0.1% during the month of August, adds the same source. Furthermore, the producer price indices of the “Electricity production and distribution” and “Water production and distribution” sectors experienced stagnation during the same period.
