CAIRO - 23 July 2022: The high-speed electric railway network linking the whole country will reduce the travel time between governorates by more than half, Minister of Transport Kamil el Wazir said Saturday.
It serves the transport of goods between ports and governorates, in addition to serving the new and existing urban and industrial areas, Wazir added during an inspection tour of the (Ain Sokhna / El Alamein / Matrouh / Fayoum) high-speed train network project, from Ain Sokhna to Helwan, passing through the New Administrative Capital.
The project's 660-km first line includes 22 stations, with a designed speed of 250 km/h, the minister said.
It will transport one million passengers and 8,500 tons of goods daily, he added.
The minister and all employees of the Transport Ministry greeted President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on the anniversary of July 23 revolution, pledging to work around the clock to complete all transport projects on time.
