Egypt:East Mediterranean Gas Forum officially turns into regional organization headquartered in Cairo

CAIRO – 23 September 2020: The seven member states of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum officially turned on Tuesday the alliance into a regional organization headquartered in Cairo.
The charter was signed by Egypt's Minister of Petroleum, Mining, and Mineral Resources Tarek al-Molla and Cypriot, Greek, Israeli, Italian, Jordanian, and Palestinian counterparts in the headquarters of Egypt's Petrojet company. The signing ceremony was also attended by the ambassadors of the member states.
The forum was launched in January 2019, and is aimed for reinforcing cooperation among member states.
Minister Molla stated in his speech that the organization is open for new members as long as they hold the values adopted by the entity in terms of respect to international laws regulating states' rights in marine economic resources and abstinence from the use of force. The minister asserted that the main goal of the organization is achieving prosperity for the peoples of the member states.
