Port of Annaba: Significant increase of exports, slight decline in imports in 2018

ANNABA-The export activity of Annaba Port Company (EPA) has significantly increased compared to the previous year, the company said in an annual activity review.

 According to the balance sheet, presented by a manager of the port, the total volume of exports made through the port of Annaba has increased by 19.96% passing 1.3 million tons in 2017 to 1.6 million tons in 2018.

These exports, it is reported, mainly concern chemicals, fruit and vegetables, metal products and other building products.

Annaba port company hopes to stay on track in 2019 thanks to the many measures put in place, in coordination with the customs services to facilitate and encourage exports, added the same source.

It is worth mentioning that during this same period, the commercial activity of the port of Annaba recorded an increase of 6.4% with more than 4.724 million tons registered in 2018 against 4.438 million tons in 2017, according to the same balance sheet.
The volume of imports has, meanwhile, declined slightly from 3051320 tonnes in 2017 to 3043240 tonnes in 2018, pointed out the same source.
