NIGERIA:NEPC Trains 150 Kano Women On Product Export

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has trained over 150 women entrepreneurs in Kano on packaging locally-made products to suit international standards for export trade.

The training which was held at Murtala Muhammad Library, had women entrepreneurs specialising in ceramics, bags, shoes, liquid soaps, among others.

An official at the regional office of NEPC, Alhaji Yakubu Gambo, said the training would ensure that women entrepreneurs are encouraged to properly package, certify and market their products to meet international standards.

“Many of our women need encouragement and coaching to become excellent and depend on themselves.”

He urged the women entrepreneurs to take advantage of the training and ensure that their products are improved to meet the desired standards and ready for exportation outside Nigeria.

One of the beneficiaries, Zulaiha Daneji, who makes soap, expressed her thoughts. “Right from this place, I begin to foresee how my products would be upgraded to meet international standards. Honestly, I enjoyed the training because it’s a great chance for us to be independent.”

Shema’u Musa Abdullahi, another entrepreneur, said she has been making shoes and bags for over 10 years. To her, the training has motivated her to begin to export her products which she said to create more jobs for youths.
