An indigenous financial technology startup, Shago Payments Limited, said yesterday it was working to bring over 10,000 merchants on its platform within the next one year.
The firm which currently has over 3000 agents on its e-commerce and payment platform connected with over 25 billers vowed to deepen financial inclusion through its platform.
Chief Executive Officer of Shago Payments, Sabastine Enechi ahead of the launch in Lagos said the firm is committed to using technology to help humanity.
He said through the Shago platform which it said resonates with the underserved and unbanked people in the country, it would support the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) vision of driving financial inclusion.
In the next one year, we want to see at least 10,000 merchants on our platform with over 200,000 businesses listed in Shago App, he said.
The CEO said the Shago platform is an infusion of e-commerce and payment built to support the underserved, unbanked, and merchants in order to create a value hub for the exposure of their goods and services.
From one agent when we started in January 2020, we now have over 3000 agents in one year cutting across all parts of the country, he added.
