Egypt welcomes 1.4M tourists in 6 months

Egypt received 1.4 million tourists during the July-December period of 2020, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled el Anany said in a January 21st statement.
A total of 3.7 million tourists visited Egypt in 2020, marking a 71.5% declined from the 13 million tourists recorded in 2019.
Since airports reopened on July 1st and until last November-end, Egypt welcomed about 1.1 million arrivals. Tourism revenues stood at $1.1 billion (EGP 17.43 billion) during the period.
The number of hotels allowed to reopen under anti-coronavirus safety measures nationwide rose to 756, El Anany added.
