Algeria : Non-conventional financing: Inflation risks controllable

Non-conventional financing, envisaged by the Government through the amendment to the law on currency and credit, would not lead to a sharp increase in inflation, as some experts fear, because the Government’s Action Plan comprises economic and budget reforms guaranteeing non-hydrocarbons GDP growth in the medium term, Said Maherzi, Vice-Governor of the Bank of Algeria said Tuesday in Algiers.

Bank of Algeria’s Vice- Governor pointed out, before the APN Finance and Budget Committee, meeting to discuss the draft law amending the ordinance on the currency and the Credit, that non-conventional financing, envisaged by the Government through the amendment to the law on currency and credit, would not lead to a sharp increase in inflation, as some experts fear, because the Government’s Action Plan comprises economic and budget reforms guaranteeing non-hydrocarbons GDP growth in the medium term.
