Algeria : Automotive industry, Algeria represents 35% of the total volume of plastics

The needs of the automotive sector represents 35% of the total volume of plastics imports in Algeria, said the Head of Division of Chemical Industries at the Ministry of Industry and Mines, Laïdouni Malek. Data provided by the National Center for Informatics and Algerian Customs Statistics (CNIS) show imports of $ 2.174 billion worth of plastics, including $ 1.904 billion in raw materials destined for industry with a rate of 87.58% and $ 269 million of finished plastic products. Processed plastic is used in agriculture, agri-food, housing, construction, water resources, the automotive industry and in the education and other sectors. The needs of the automotive plastic industry sector in Algeria represent 35% of the global volume, said Laïdouni, claiming that the industry and mining sector promotes the production of plastic for the automotive industry and to encourage domestic companies to produce and process plastics for the benefit of car factories throughout the national territory
